Amidst Controversy Amarnath Yatra 2012 to Commence from June 25

incredible-himachal-amarnath-yatraThe much awaited pilgrimage to holy Shrine Shri Amarnathji  will start amid dates controversy from June 25 this year. The Yatra will last for only 37 days and helicopter services will also be available this year. Shri amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) who manages yatra has informed that air ticket rates have been slashed by 40 per cent and ticket fair from Baltam route is available for Rs.1445.00 and from Pahalgam route for Rs.2355.00 only. The Board is all busy to “mobilise additional manpower to the extent possible to complete the backlog work and put all infrastructures in time” for the commencement of the yatra on the schedule date. Inclement weather over the last few weeks has hampered necessary preparations, including clearance of tracks. Various Hindu Organizations are adament on starting  Amarnath Yatra on their own  from auspicious Jyeshth Purnima which falls on June four and culminate it  on Raksha Bandhan.

About 100 Post Offices located across the country have started registration for the yatra from May 15, 2012.

The Post Offices which will provide registration facilities are located in districts of Akbar Pur, Faizabad, Rosebery, Sultanpur, Bulandshar, Khurja, Mainpuri, Ghazipur, Pratapgarh, Amroha, Bijnor, Rampur, Azamgarh, Barirumpur, Gonga, Banda, Fatehpur, Mirzapur, Lal Ganj, Sila Pur, Dhampur, Hardoi, Khori, Hapur, Gorahkpur in Uttar Pradesh; Betul, Chattapur, Damoh, Mandla, Sagar, Sidhi, Vidisha, Ratlam, Shajapur, Dhar, Bhind, Mandsour, Katni, Dewas, Neemuch, Morena, Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh; Dadar, Osmanabad, Sholapur, Latur, Parbhani, Satara, Nanded, Yavatmal, Dhule, Ratnagiri, Chandrapuram, Sangli, Akola, Buldhana, Amravati, Wardha in Maharashtra; Aurangabad, Gaya, Buxar, Siwan, Katihar, Jehanabad, Banka, Gopal Ganj, Darbanga, Muzaffarpur, Saharsa, Katihar, Chapra, Samastipur, Ara in Bihar; Kheda, Mahesana, Godhra, Patan, Amroli, Junagarh, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Surindranagar, Bharuch, Valsad, Navsari, Gandhinagar, Nadiad, Dohad in Gujarat; Sangrur, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Faridkot, Gurdaspur, Patiala, Ropar in Punjab; and Sonipat, Bhiwani, Jind, Sirsa, Narnoul in Haryana. The list of bank branches are already available on the website of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board.

On line Registration for the yatris has started from May 7, 2012.

J&K Bank and YES Bank branches have been authorised for registration purpose.
