Himachal earns over Rs 130 crore from cement firms
SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh has earned a revenue of more than Rs 130 crore in the past three years from eight cement companies, a minister said on Wednesday.
“A sum of Rs 136.34 crore has been earned by the state from cement firms,” Industries Minister Kishan Kapoor said in a written statement in the assembly.
He said the revenue was earned from eight companies, including Gujarat Ambuja Cements, Associated Cement Companies Ltd, Cement Corp of India Ltd, Jai Parkash Associates and India Cements Ltd.
As much as 2,603 hectare of government land has been provided to the companies on lease, Kapoor added.
Two cement firms that were provided land for setting up units are yet to start production due to legal hurdles linked to violation of environmental norms, he said.
