Five shops gutted in Shimla

Shimla: A major fire gutted five shops in the heart of the capital town last night, causing loss to the tune of lakhs of rupees.

The fire, triggered due to electical short circut, engulfed five shops in Lower Bazaar near Sherai Punjab Eaters. The shops belong to Hatinder Grover (readymade articles), Gurbakesh Singh (shoes shop), Sanjeev Malhtora (mobiles phone), Mushir Mohmood (cold drinks) and Kiran Sigh (readymade goods).  The fire broke out at around 1.30 am and it took alomost three hours for five fire tenders to douse the flames. Timely action saved the rest of shops. The adminsteration assessed preliminary loss of Rs 10 lakh.
