400 RKS doctors on mass leave
Shimla: About 400 doctors appointed through various Rogi Kalyan Samitis (RKS) in different hospitals of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday went on mass leave to protest against alleged discrimination by the state government against them, paralyzing health services in most far-flung, tribal and other parts of the state.
The fresh agitation was triggered as during a recent cabinet meeting the state government opted to recruit 150 doctors through State Public Service Commission, overlooking these doctors.
Terming the step discriminating against 400 RKS appointed and contractual doctors, president of Joint Action Protest Committee Navneet Rathore alleged in a statement issued to media that the government discriminated the RKS doctors by ignoring them.
He said that RKS doctors have decided to observed three day mass leave and they would hold general house to decide the next course of action against the decision. He said that they took the adverse move after failing to get government assurance on the issue.
Meanwhile, the state government condemned the agitation calling it anti-people and declared the protest unconstitutional by rejecting the mass leave of doctors and also decided to subtract the non-working days with their job seniority.
