Mankotia at it again, against all and sundry
Shimla: Former state tourism and civil aviation minister Major Vijai Singh Mankotia today opened a crusade against the alleged rampant corruption in the hill state and and also the Center, directly targeting Union chief minister Virbhadra Singh and also the state BJP government.
While addressing a press conference here, Mankotia strongly condemned the incumbent and former Congress government of Virbhadra Singh for “patronising corruption by way of commission and omission”, thereby betraying the people of better governance, beside ruining the democratic order of the state and country.
Mankotia disclosed that he has written a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take action over number of charges being leveled against former state Chief Minister and current Union steel minister Virbhadra Singh. He refused to join BJP or Congress, otherwise claiming that both parties have been approaching him. Mankotia made another startling claim that Virbhadra Singh had approached him to launch a new party in the state, but he politely refused. He said that he would continue his fight against corruption as neither Congress nor BJP have been able to address the problem of state people.
He said that it is a irony that there is no third alternative in the state to keep a check on the two main parties. He said that formation of a party and fighting elections have become impossible due to requirement of huge amount of money for it, which is not possible for any gentleman. He also announced to step down as state president of ex-servicemen, a post he has been holding from last 20 years.
