The Destination manager (operation), Vishwanath Mishra said that the village ‘haat’ is a unique move to offer tourists a slice of Himachali culture. He said the ‘haat’ will be commissioned from May 1, 2010, and it would run on pilot basis for three months. He said three lakh tourists are being targeted for this venture, which has been designed to diversify the state tourism industry form its monotonous style to give it new dimensions.

He said that about 15 village ‘hats’ have been constructed, made out of locally available material, which would exhibit handicraft, and handlooms along with artisans and in between the mud-made ‘haat’ a Himachali cook would offer ‘Himachali thali’ to tourists.
